High School Readiness Extension - (Jan)
4 sessions - 11am-12.30pm - Jan 27, 28, 29, 30.
Programme Description
Through targeted activities, students will develop the skills and confidence needed to transition successfully to high school. The group focuses on fostering independence, social competence, and self-advocacy. Specific opportunities and strategies include: * Building effective communication and conversation skills * Understanding and using non-verbal communication * Developing social awareness, self-awareness, and problem-solving skills * Practicing organisation, time management, and study strategies * Collaborative activities to encourage peer support and confidence Our goal is to support each student in navigating the social, emotional, and practical demands of high school while celebrating their unique strengths and abilities. This group is for the children who have previously worked on some High School Readiness with us, either in groups or individually - so it's our 'extension' programme.

Some of the important information...
If your child is new to us at Skillbuilders? In this case we need as much information as you can send us please to ensure our therapists can provide the most targeted service. Please forward any therapy reports, school reports, doctor reports, etc when you book to Penny@skillbuilders.com.au. From here we can contact you to arrange a 'Meet'n'Greet' session if needed. These sessions are to help your child feel more comfortable with one of the therapists prior to the group, and also to ensure any assessment information gaps are addressed. Sometimes we may feel an alternative programme would better suit your child, in which case we can discuss this and make an alternative plan. We will always refund the $100 deposit if we can't offer the best option for your child. Deposits: We request a $100 deposit to confirm your child's place in any of our small group programmes. On the first day of the programme this amount is either credited to the full programme fee for non-funded families, or refunded directly to families who have funding through NDIS. Fees: All groups are charged at the regular NDIS therapy rates. Fees vary and are determined by the duration of the sessions (eg 60 or 90 minutes), the number of sessions in the programme, the number of children in the group, and the number of therapists required. Fees include time for preparation, pack-away and notes. We generally have a ratio of 1 therapist to 2 children. Fees are discounted for non-funded families. Please contact us to discuss this. Service Agreements: A signed service agreement is also required to confirm your child's place. We will send this to you once the deposit is received. Group Reports: We routinely provide reports for all term programmes and school holiday groups that are 8+ sessions. Reports are provided for shorter programmes (eg 4 sessions) on parent request. The fees are as per NDIS therapy rates with discounts available for non-funded families. Cancellations: Our programmes are full programmes and credits are not available. If your child is unable to attend a session for any reason the therapists will provide you with relevant resources to practice the group content at home (where appropriate).
