Hello, I'm Shelley!
Shelley Ewings, Occupational Therapist

Shelley graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Occupational Therapy) from Curtin University in 1992. Shortly after she began her career in paediatric occupational therapy in Tasmania, working in a community-based role with the Department of Health. After returning to Western Australia, Shelley continued to build her expertise in developmental paediatrics, joining the Child and Adolescent Health Service in 2003. She also worked part-time with Skillbuilders between 2009 and 2013. Since then Shelley has continued in various roles with the Child Development Service and most recently, contributed to Curtin University's Early Moves Research Project.

With more than 30 years of experience in paediatric occupational therapy, Shelley has worked across early intervention, preschool and school-aged services. She partners closely with families, carers, educators and other health professionals to deliver comprehensive assessments, individual therapy, group programs, and home and school-based interventions tailored to each child's needs.
​
Although Shelley enjoys supporting children across all areas of paediatric practice, her greatest passion is early intervention. She has a particular interest in helping young children develop foundational skills through play-based therapy and comprehensive developmental assessments. Shelley believes that providing support early in a child's life can have a lasting impact on their confidence, independence and future success.

Outside of the clinic, Shelley enjoys spending time with her family and treasures the opportunity to help care for her young grandchildren.

​When we asked Shelley what drove her to be an OT she said, "I find immense satisfaction in helping children overcome challenges, develop new skills and reach their full potential. Seeing children grow in confidence as they achieve milestones and celebrate their successes is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work".
